 Irish Medical Resources

Irish Cancer Society
The national cancer charity in Ireland. The Irish Cancer Society have trained staff who know how to interact with cancer patients. They have a freephone number if you wish to talk about to someone your cancer.

National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP)
The NCCP coordinate all cancer services in Ireland.

Treatment Abroad Scheme
For treatments that are not available in Ireland, the HSE can provide Irish patients with access to such treatments if they are available in another EU country. Download an application form from this website and see how to avail of this service.

St. Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin
SVUH is at the heart of the planned Centre of Excellence for NETs in Ireland. Professor Donal O’Shea runs a weekly endocrine clinic for NET patients.

Mercy University Hospital, Cork
MUH is a sister hospital to SVUH in establishing a national Centre of Excellence for NETs in Ireland.

Galway University Hospital
GUH forms the western part of the National Centre of Excellence for NETs in Ireland.

Medicinal Information
Detailed medicinal information as required by law on all medicines prescribed in Ireland.

International Resources

NET Patient Foundation
Good UK website about NETS with very precise and detailed information. They have a range of downloadable booklets on the different types of NETs

The Carcinoid Cancer Foundation
Some great information on Carcinoids (although with a US focus). They have information on preparing for the 5HIAA Test, what foods and drinks to avoid before and during your 5HIAA test.

ENETS.org
The European Neuroendocrine Tumor Society (ENETS) is an international professional association composed of physicians and researchers, whose main area of study is related to neuroendocrine tumors. Dr Dermot O’Tools of St Jame’s Hospital in dublin is on the board of ENETS.

The Caring for Carcinoid Foundation (CFCF) in the USA, its mission is to fund research to discover cures and more effective treatments for carcinoid, pancreatic, and related neuroendocrine cancers. Along with its focus on research, CFCF is committed to supporting patients, families, friends and caregivers by providing them with complete and up-to-date information.

The NET Patient Foundation is the only charity in the UK & Northern Ireland dedicated to providing support and information to people affected by neuroendocrine cancers.
The NET Patient Foundation was formed at the start of 2006 and has Charity Commission status.

The International Neuroendocrine Cancer Alliance, NetCancerDay.org, is the global voice in support of neuroendocrine cancer patients. Their mission is to be the global advocate for neuroendocrine cancer patients. A Great resource of information, often condensed into easy to understand articles or images.
